Decodable Passages are good for readers who are at the beginning stages of their journey.
These short passages give readers space to read new types of words in context. This practice lays the foundation and confidence to eventually step out into more challenging reading materials.
Reader’s Theater
Reader’s Theater scripts give readers opportunities to practice reading with expression.
Studies have shown that reading with expression (or prosody/fluency) can increase a reader’s comprehension.
Note: the scripts on this site are best suited for students who can read most words without having to sound them out first. Sounding words out is an important step in learning to read. Readers who are still in this stage will likely benefit from the Decodable Passages below.
